Xinyu Gao
is a illustrator, concept artist, and designer based in Edinburgh, Leith. She graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, one of China's leading art academies, with a BA in Animation in 2018. And with the love and enthusiasm for illustration, she continued her studies at Edinburgh College of Art in MA Illustration at 2025.
She has over six years of experience in the game, animation and film industry. Contributed to multiple reknowned Chinese film & TV - series projects including The Three Body Problem, Kublai, On the Road, Swords of Legends, Wu Xin The Monster Killer, Word of Honor, Gundam Factory, Blue Moon, Liuli, Ultimate Note, IMMORTALITY , The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.
She specialise in creating atmospheric environments, character and creature design, colour storyboards, background concept arts, and matte paintings. She’s super into nature and fantasy, currently developing an Life and Death themed indie tarot deck Reincarnation Tarot based on an original fantasy world where death is killed, which is sold in markets and local witchcraftshops.
